The museum mass consists of three large-scale strata- two floors and a profiled roof - which are supported by groups of slender columns. The proposals’ footprint is on the scale of the big city blocks and port infrastructure characteristic for the Eteläsatama area of Helsinki, although the building itself is considerably lower than the surrounding buildings. The massing of the building is deliberately ambiguous, in between a pitched roof, vaults or thick, volumetric strata. It’s reminiscent of boathouses or factory spaces
