IMPORTANT SAFETY INFORMATION
WARNING
For surgeries on central nervous system and central circulatory systems,
user has to ensure that the accessories are approved/certified.
CARDIAC PACEMAKERS
WARNING
Do not perform HF surgery on patient with implanted pacemaker.
The use of electrosurgery on patients with implanted cardiac pacemaker or
pacemaker electrodes may cause irreparable damage to pacemaker, leading
to ventricular fibrillation because of the low frequency interference. The
interference can also cause a pacemaker to revert to an asynchronous mode
or inhibit pacemaker entirely.
INTERFERENCE WITH OTHER ELECTRONIC EQUIPMENT
By their very nature, HF surgical units generate HF voltages and currents, which
can cause interference with other electronic equipments. Sensitive electronic
equipments should be connected as far away as possible from the HF surgical
unit and away from all cables conducting HF currents. Moreover the cables should
be kept as short as possible and must never be routed near and parallel to the
cables of sensitive equipments, for no matter how carefully they are shielded,
HF cables have the same effect as a transmission antenna.
On account of the interference in sensitive electronic equipments, Maestro Plus 100
is equipped with a special harmonics free HF generator with an automatic voltage
regulator which outputs at a relatively low interference levels in comparison
with the conventional HF equipment.
INTERFERENCE WITH ECG
The following conditions must be satisfied if the patient is connected to the HF
surgical equipment and also to a monitor, (e.g. ECG)
z If both units are operated with grounded neutral electrodes, the grounded
ECG cable must be connected to the neutral electrode of the HF surgical
unit.
ATTENTION
The active surgical electrode must not be placed in the vicinity of the ECG
electrode (minimum distance 15 cm)
