20 x 20 square hollow section mild steel battens were observed in a damaged section of roof. These are welded to mild steel flats fixed over galvanised flat steel sheet to a steel batten sub-frame over rafters. The steel is in poor condition and appears generally unprotected in many places with a low build paint rather than a corrosion resistant coating. It is unclear why there are 2 layers of battens although the lower layer may have been utilised in the initial configuration prior to the re-installation of the roof.
