Shoot emergence (191 days) and flowering (289 days) of bulbils
harvested at stage 4 was significantly accelerated as compared
with the bulbils harvested at stage 1 (207 to emerge and 316 days
to flower) or at stage 2 (202 and 301 days) (Table 4). Flowering
(100%) and the number of flowers (2.1 buds) was the highest and
the plant was the tallest (65 cm) when bulbs were harvested at
stage 6 (30–35 DAA), which were considered mature. When bulbils
were harvested at stage 6, the number of flowers was significantly
increased compared with those harvested at stage 5. When scaly
leaves were formed at harvest (stage 7), flowering percentage was
70%, although the number of flowers, and of leaves were not significantly
different as compared with those harvested at stage 6.
