It is quite difficult to provide adequate training for PMS
operators for several reasons. One reason is simply the fact
that any orders sent by PMS operators will have important
consequences on the operation of the power system.
Trainees cannot be allowed to actually execute orders. The
other problem is that a well designed robust power system
normally operates correctly for long periods of time without
any operator intervention. Some functions will be used only
very infrequently. When operators don’t use the system for
long periods of time, they often forget what they have to do.
