A three-year-old girl became the innocent victim of a car theft when the vehicle she was sleeping in was stolen from outside a home in Nonthaburi’s Bang Yai district. The thieves left her in Ayutthaya province.
Reports said two men broke a window of a white Toyota Vios parked in front of a home in Phra Pin 3 housing estate at about 4pm and drove off with it.
The car was parked with the engine running and the girl, identified as Apineeya Thongprasom, was left unattended by her parents. The parents tried to follow the thieves who escaped on Rama II Road but failed. They later filed a complaint with Bang Bua Thong police station.
The stolen vehicle carries a Bangok-registered licence plate Por Kor 20.
At about 8pm, police said, the girl was found in Phak Hai district of Ayutthaya province where the thieves had left her before fleeing with the car. She was safe and was not in a panic. She was looked after by a local who alerted the police. The mother has now been reunited with her child.
Police are tracking down the thieves.
