The basic 272hp 3.0-litre V6 TDI is mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission and can achieve 17.5kpl – 26% more efficient than before.
And to come at a later stage is a plug-in hybrid version of it capable of running in pure electric mode for 56km and achieving 58.8kpl on the combined cycle. That's quite a significant leap away from petrol-based hybrids, such as those found in the Cayenne S E-Hybrid.
There's also a TFSI petrol variant running a 333hp 3.0-litre supercharged V6 engine that's only 0.2sec quicker than the TDI from 0-100kph, at 6.1sec.
It appears diesel is the way to go in the new Q7, while the petrol head is definitely for buyers who still hate black oil.
