Organochlorine pesticides (OCPs), especially dichlorodiphenyltrichloroethanes
(DDTs) and hexachlorocyclohexanes (HCHs), are
persistent organic pollutants with stable chemical properties and
long residue times in the environment. The pesticides enter the
water environment through surface runoff and atmospheric deposition
(Park et al., 2001)
