In another family, the husband became quiet and
withdrawn, passive, and a non-participant in family
activities. This put his wife in a bad mood, and she
would fight with him about it. However, she began to
wonder if there was something wrong with her interpretation
of what was happening. And then she
began to feel guilty for her husband's drinking and
the consequences of his drinking. At the time, he was
in recovery, and the family was in family therapy and,
in retrospect, had a pretty firm grasp of their experience
with the father's alcoholism.
