The number of questions per questionnaire was not
recorded in the majority of studies, although Green et al.
(2000) used a survey composed of 88 questions and Weijmar
Schultz et al. (1986) had 108 questions. Tamburini et al.
(1986) used the shortened version of the Minnesota Multiphasic
Personality Inventory (MMPI), which had 370 questions
in all. Whilst accepting this is a validated tool there is a
risk of responder weariness and they may not answer all the
questions if a large number is involved. A list of the 15
criteria in the vulvar cancer specific (FACT-V) assessment
tool was provided by Janda et al. (2005).
Face-to-face interviews took place in nine studies
(Andersen & Hacker 1983, Moth et al. 1983, Weijmar
Schultz et al. 1986, Andreasson et al. 1986, Andersen et al.
1988, van de Wiel et al. 1990a, b, Corney et al. 1992,
Thuesen et al. 1992, Janda et al. 2004). Only two studies
reported how the interview questions were derived (Andersen
& Hacker 1983, Janda et al. 2004) and Weijmar
Schultz et al. (1986) provided a summary of the topics
covered during the interview. None of the studies discussed
how the questions were phrased or provided an interview
schedule
