Statement of the Problem. The purpose of this study was to determine the accuracy and validity of the Stanford-Binet Intelligence Scale, Form L-M, (S-BIS), in identifying Mentally Gifted Minor Students at the Kindergarten and first grade levels in the Ocean View School District, Huntington Beach, California. A secondary purpose was to explore selected dimensions or subtests of the S-BIS, namely, General Comprehension, Memory and Concentration, Vocabulary and Verbal Fluency, and Judgment and Reasoning, to determine their importance regarding the over-all stability of the general intelligence quotient.
