The
phenolic compounds were classified based on their characteristically
UV–vis spectra and quantified by external standards. Anthocyanins
were quantified as cyanidin-3-sophoroside at 520 nm,
quercetin glycosides as rutin at 360 nm, ellagic acid conjugates
(EAC), i.e., ellagic acid glycosides and ellagic acid, as ellagic acid
at 360 nm, and the ellagitannins lambertianin C and sanguiin H-6
as gallic acid at 260 nm. All results were expressed as mg per
100 g FW.
