Nanocrystals were separated from potato starch by acid hydrolysis. These nanoparticles can be easily dispersed in a solution and can
be incorporated in rubber latex to make a nanocomposite. These nano
particles appear to be good candidates to create a new generation of
green composites. When incorporated in the rubber latex it is possible
to obtain a good dispersion of up to 15% w/w of fillers. One of the
consequences of the electrical insulator nature of these nanofillers is
the increase of the electrical barrier at the percolation threshold.
