1. Introduction
Light pollution can be defined as the brightening of the night sky caused by street lights and other man-made
sources that hinder the observation of stars and planets. According to the International Dark-Sky Association (IDA),
which is a US non-profit organization to preserve and protect the nighttime environment, light pollution is defined as
any adverse effect of artificial light. This definition encompasses sky glow, glare, light trespass, light clutter,
decreased visibility at night, and energy waste [1].
