J. Movable Scaffolding
CTEP allows the use of purpose manufactured or TCS erected movable scaffold; however, manually movable scaffold shall only be used after the risk assessment has determined the work plan is safe. The movable scaffold shall comply with the paragraph requirements of USA OSHA CFR 1910.29.
Only personnel that have been trained and/or have been approved as competent by the responsible CTEP supervisor are permitted to erect, dismantle, inspect and use movable scaffolding. This shall include the CTEP Working at Height Training Requirements.
The use of manually moveable scaffolds is only permitted on concrete or firm level surfaces and for light duty service (15 lbs/ft2 / 77 kg/m2). Provision shall be provided for safely climbing to the work platform.
The requirements for ladder access, rest platforms, guard rails, Toeboards, etc. are the same as requirements for TCS Scaffolding.
Movable scaffolding are limited to a height of 3 times the minimum base dimension or a maximum of 6 m.
Movable scaffolding shall not be moved with personnel or materials on any work or rest platform.
Only swivel type castors as required by the manufacturer with a minimum diameter of 200 mm and rated to support the safe working load of scaffold shall be used.
Castors must be provided with a brake or locking device to prevent accidental movement of the scaffold during use.
Components from different scaffold manufacturers shall not be intermixed.
