What is the single most important thing for an engineer to know about toxicology?
The engineer cannot and should not practice toxicology. An engineer's education and experience
falls far short of what is needed to make toxicological evaluations. However, a general understanding
of how a toxicologist makes decisions will open meaningful communication between the two
disciplines that share the responsibility to decide whether an engineering solution offers adequate
protection.
