For the homogeneous slope model, Chen[56]obtained a safetyfactor of 1.0 by using the limit analysis method, while Zheng[55]obtained safety factors of 1.06 and 0.99 via the FEM and VEM, re-spectively, as shown inFig. 8. When strength reduction is performed onthe soil body only, for model A, the plastic zone is connected when thereduction coefficient reaches 1.07, so the safety factor of stony soilslope A is considered to be 1.07. On the other hand, the contrastiveanalysis models of stony soil slope A from ABAQUS (element number is1373) and VEM employed (element number is 1358) are built as shownin Fig. 9. The strength reduction factor and the correspondent contourmap of equivalent plastic strain are as also shown inFig. 9, which re-veals that the results from ABAQUS and VEM employed are coincident.For model B, the plastic zone is connected when the reduction coeffi-cient reaches 1.17, so the safety factor of stony soil slope B is consideredto be 1.17.
