The data will be obtained from a mail ale survey of 30 Bangkok. based organizations in the private sector which will bo chooun from Amerinan, Ausualian and European chamber s of oommerce as well as embassies od Western countries in Bangkok The aim of this questiorinalle survey is to obtain information on the cument practices of recruitment and election among large, multi national organization in the Thai privato seatot There are two major sectiona, wnth twenty-nine quetitions in this ques- tionnaire The first section contains 13 questionll about the general character- istics of the sample This basically inciudes employees porsonal and cafoor information, educational background as well as a basic description ot the sampled organizations, such an the type, size and design configuration of the organizations The second section contains 16 questions relating to the moth ods and procedures uued to assess extemal applicants for managorial positions in the sampled organizationa The individual respondent is asked to indicate, from suggested estimates ranging from 0 to 100 percent, the approximate percentage of occasions on which he or she (each individual organization) would use methods and procedures with external managerial applicants be- fore deciding whether to appoint or reject them There are hve response oat egories including Never Use (0%), Rarely (25%) Sametimes (60%) Usually (5%), and Always Use (100%). Once verbal and written apptovals have been obtained from senior man agement executives (managing directors, or human rosources directors) of the sampled organizations, lists of middle management employees Gncluding HR and specialists) will be determined for the distribution of questionnaites To complete the questionnaires, these selectod groups of employees will be those responadhle for development and implamentation of business strategies and human resource policies in their business units/de partments in the organizations Selooted middle management employees must have more than one full year of work expenonoo with their prenent employets and must have direct subordinates (with the exooption of HR Hpocialints) ieparting to uhem The investigation will then bo camed out through hand
