The utility of Hemocue for analyzing FP sanples seems to be compromised due to the lack of reliability of this method on capillary blood samples.
Thus introducing FP Hemocue as a universal screening procedure would be inappropriate and expensive too.
Therefore suggestions have been made to recover the healthy donors inappropriately failed by the CuSO4 test that,
all the CuSO4 failures should be retested by the Hemocue and those who pass should be accepted for donation.
The study by James et al. [9]supports that secondary screening using a Hemocue estimation on venous samples can recover donations which would otherwise be lost.
