The differences between SCM measurements with EMG
were evaluated with repeated-measurement analysis of
covariance model, and no relationship was observed
between marital status and educational level (P values are
.918 and .06, respectively). Age and BMI differences were
found to have no effect on algometer SCM measurements
(P values are .898 and .371, respectively). On the other
hand, no significant difference was found between right and
left, which was valid for both groups (P = .759). In spite of
that, pre- and posttherapy differences were found to change
from one group to another (P = .005). According to this
result, whereas no significant difference was found between
pretherapy EMG SCM averages (10.89 ± 1.132) and
posttherapy EMG SCM averages (11.805 ± 1.262) in the
CM group, the posttherapy average (8.73 ± 1.265) was
found to be significantly higher than the pretherapy average
(11.56 ± 1.135) in the connective massage group (P = .005).
Additionally, whereas no significant difference was
observed between the 2 groups in terms of pretherapy
measurements, in posttherapy measurements, the average in
the CTM group can be said to be significantly lower than
that in the CM group. Other interaction effects in the model
were observed to be insignificant. Descriptive measurements
were given in Table 2 as average ± SD. No adverse
reactions were reported during this study.
