ImageJ is an Java-based imaging software that implements the
most common techniques of image filtering, manipulation and
analysis. ImageJ presents the ease of using stacks for sequently
applying filters to all the images contained on it. It also allows
macros and plug-in programming. However, basic design needs for
JChainsAnalyser (explained in the Introduction) impose that the
software must be able to run on a stand-alone way, without the
need of a GUI and, if wished, be easily run on a remote computer.
Then, ImageJ is used as a library by means of the reading of its JAR
(Java Archive) file when JChainsAnalyser is executed.
