The ICT strategy is at the heart of the networked enterprise, as illustrated in Fig 2.5.
Effective organizations will need to use the internet, extranets and intranets to communicate
with their main stakeholders and to manage all their affairs. The internet supports global
interaction and customized websites can be offered to each of the main stakeholders, with
access to appropriate information and interactivity channels.
An extranet can be used for sharing information with trusted partners and for
enhancing the interactivity on particular functions. Intranets are restricted to internal users
only and therefore can only be used be employees and managers of the organization.
Different employees can have access to different levels of information in the organization
according to their job specification, rank and responsibilities.
