Our
findings are in agreement
with Ayhan and Esturk (2009) who reported an increase in
antioxidant activity in pomegranate arils until the 9th day of
storage then a decrease under passive and active MAPs with low or
no O2. On the contrary, Lòpez-Rubira et al. (2005) reported that the
antioxidant activity of pomegranate arils treated with UV-C and
packaged in polypropylene trays sealed with biaxially-oriented
polypropylene
film under passive MAP did not significantly change
throughout the storage time of 15 days at 5 C. D’Aquino et al., 2010
reported that the antioxidant activity of pomegranates were fairly
stable in all treatments during cold storage. Fawole and Opara,
(2013a), Arendse et al. (2014) also reported that the antioxidant
activity of pomegranates declined at all storage regimes with
storage time.
