Experienced problems
The 10 most frequently reported problems at pre-treat-ment, baseline and follow-up are shown in Table 3. Among the problems found at pre-treatment, the fol-lowing did not reoccur after insertion of RDPs: ‘avoid smiling’ and ‘uncomfortable to eat’. Problems such as ‘worried’ and ‘miserable’ were only observed again at baseline, and problems with ‘dentures not fitting’ and ‘discomfort (dentures)’ only reoccurred at follow-up. Among the constant problems that were registered at pre-treatment and reoccurred at both baseline and fol-low-up, functional (‘food-catching’, ‘difficulty chewing’) and aesthetic (‘self-conscious’) problems were observed. New problems were encountered since insertion, such as ‘appearance’, ‘tooth doesn’t look right’
and ‘tense’. These were all improved at follow-up. Problems regarding ‘speech unclear’, ‘avoid eating’, ‘trouble pronouncing words’ and ‘headache’ were among the new problems found at follow-up.
