As a regulatory protein, 14-3-3 protein was highly conservative in higher plant and played an important regulatory role in many physiological processes, such as physiological metabolism, gene transcription, organellar protein, and stress responses (Aitken 2006). For example, five target proteins in wheat (Trutucyn aestuvym) (Purwestri et al. 2009) and 54 kinds of proteins in barley (Hordeum vulgare) endosperm (Alexander and Morris 2006), respectively, could interact with 14-3-3 protein.
