LIMITATIONS
A limitation of this study is that, overall, the literature
focuses on fertility transitions and times of turmoil
with fertility, which may not capture the breadth of the
fertility concept. Furthermore, a caveat to the concept of female
fertility is that it is described as being preceded by
sexual decision making, which is not always the case, as with
assisted reproduction. Another limitation is the lack of amale
perspective and perspectives of couples regarding female fertility.
The literature identified through the search strategy did
not include the voice of women who consciously decide not
to have children nor did it include the perspectives of women
who embracemenopause as a positive process or menopause
across cultures.
