A multimeter sometimes called a multitester , is one of the most basic elactronic instruments. A multimeter can be used for measuring electric current (ampere) , resistance (ohm) and voltage (volt) because it combines the three functions: ammeter , voltmeter and ohmmeter into a single unit.
There are two main types of multimeter : analog multimeter has a switch and shows its measurements through a needle moving along a scale. It is cheap but difficult for someone to read. Second, a digital multimeter has a switch and shows its measurements through numbers on a liquid crystal display. Digital multimeters are more expensive than analog multimeters.
