Project Narrative The client brief was to plan a large township at Murcia in Spain. The design creates a development plan with 545 acres of open space out of a total of 725 acres. A very small portion of the site is along the hills that skirt the site. Looking at the orientation and observing the views, it was decided to create a chapel at the highest point of the site which is buildable. Design Concept Framing a gently undulating landscape with a view of the ocean in the distance this small chapel is perched at a height of 90m on a steeply sloping hill. Visitors approach the chapel from a circuitous road leading up to the hill. A small doorway nestled amidst landscape mounds organically merging with the hill, forms the first glimpse. As one enters, the volume gradually increases with the doorway widening into a cavernous space created
