A core principle of integrated design is the ability of team members to share knowledge for
continuous learning. Scholars (Druskat, 2002, Weick and Roberts, 1993) identify continuous
learning - with psychological ownership and heedful interrelating - as one of the conditions for
performing integrated teams. It is acknowledged, from recent ethnographic research on team
dynamics, that there could be multiple barriers - cognitive inertia, lack of self-regulation,
knowledge boundaries - hindering integrated teams ability to perform.
