The copper coils should be wound around the
pipe at these marked positions, ensuring that the
direction of the winding around the pipe is kept
constant throughout the entire length of the pipe.
A suggested order of winding (shown in figure 4)
is to lay a long straight piece of wire along the
length of the pipe first, and then return back
winding over it on the return trip. This ensures
that the first wire is tied down by the coils to
prevent it from flapping. Tape or ‘Blu-tack’ can
be used as a temporary aid to keep the turns in
place while they are being made, but ‘Super Glue’
(or some other low viscosity adhesive) should be
used to secure the coils permanently in place after
the winding is completed.
