1:80 leaves; 5, 60 ◦C: 1:60 pericarp; 6, 80 ◦C: 1:80 pericarp) and
the three methanolic extracts (7, MeOH bark; 8, MeOH leaves; 9,
MeOH pericarp) were selected for detection of activity against
the experimental microorganisms. Antimicrobial effects against
one yeast, two Gram-positive and two Gram-negative bacteria
were examined at extract concentrations of 0.25 mg mL−1 in
media adjusted to pH 5 and 7, and against four fungal isolates
at pH 5. Results shown in Table 3 revealed that none of the
extracts could prevent the growth of the fungi, yeast or Gramnegative
bacteria under these conditions. Inhibition was restricted
to the Gram-positive bacteria L.
