Usually, the critical chemical and steam valves are spring loaded to go closed if there
is a loss of instrument air pressure. If a mill wide problem is reducing the available air
pressure, attempt an orderly stop to allow the pulp to be flushed from the equipment.
If it is a localized problem, attempt to flush the rest of the system. Be sure to check
that the chemical and steam valves do in fact close when instrument air pressure is
lost.
