Fig. 3 shows the dynamic properties of neat epoxy and its
nanocomposites with 0.5, 1.0 and 2.0wt% nanofillers. It is very clear
from Fig. 3(a) that the storage modulus at room temperature increases
with increasing nanofiller loadings. The change of storage
moduli is consistent with that of tensile moduli obtained under
static testing. The above mechanical testing results have demonstrated
the advantages of nanoparticles with a hard silica core in
improving the stiffness of epoxy over the soft reactive liquid rubbers
or coreeshell rubber particles [13,16].
