From Table 2, the comparisons between pre-test mean score and post-test mean score
showed that students’ vocabulary comprehension has increased after viewing the movie with
movie subtitles. And in addition to the statistical significance, Becker (2000) argued that research
should also report its statistical significance in terms of the effect size. The value of effect size
was used to measure the magnitude of the effect of using the integrated instructional media of
movie and movie subtitles to help improve English vocabulary comprehension in learners.
