April 13 is the last day of the year and it is the day when the sun enters Aries. Shooting or lighting up fireworks is a must in order to make loud noises to drive out bad things. To clean the house and to wash clothes will also chase away bad things from the old year.
April 14 is Wan Nao Day. In some areas, it is called “stinky day”. This is the day that connects between an old year and a new year. There is a belief that you should not do bad things, argue, and fight. Wan Nao is a day when people prepare for religious ceremonies and in the afternoon people carry sand into temples.
April 15 is a New Year’s day or Wan Paya Wan Pen, a religious ceremony day. People make merit, pray for the ancestors, and pour water in the hands of the revered elders then ask for blessing. There is the belief that whoever has a lot of sin will be able to flee from hell today
