Fivefullyformulatedwindturbinegearoilswerecharacterised.Thegearoilshave320ISOVGgradeand
different formulations:ester,mineral,PAO,PAGandmineralþPAMA.
A back-to-backFZGtestmachine,withre-circulatingpower,wasusedandatorque-cellwasincluded
on thetestriginordertomeasurethetorqueloss.Eightthermocoupleswereincludedtomonitorthe
temperaturesindifferentlocationsofthetestrig.
Testsat1.13,2.26and6.79m/swereperformedfordifferentFZGloadstages:K1,K5,K7andK9.Both
gearboxeswerejet-lubricatedwithanoil flowof3l/min.Theinput flowtemperaturewaskeptalmost
constant (80 71 1C).
Frictiongeneratedbetweenthemeshingteeth,shaftsealsandrollingbearinglosseswaspredicted.
