The incidence of dry socket in this study was
significantly higher in the lower jaw (73.3%) than in the
upper jaw (26.7%). The result of this study regarding
the involvement of mandible to maxilla correlated well
with other studies done around the world.7, 17,18, 20,21 The
possible explanation of high risk in the mandible than
maxilla may be due the high density of bone, decreased
vascularity and reduced capacity of producing granulation
tissue at this site.
