Pls note the below details.
1) A container freight station (CFS) is a warehouse where goods are consolidated into or deconsolidated from containers for transport to their next destination.
2) For the Panel Plus movement, the CFS where the loaded containers will go to after they have been discharged at the POD, will be selected by the liner. The liner/forwarder generally selects the CFS where the cargo needs to go to.
3) If the customer selects another CFS, then the charges for movement to and from that CFS is on the customer account. The reason a customer will select their own CFS may be because they have some other business operating out of that CFS, local contacts at destination, faster movement from port to CFS, etc (multiple other such reasons).
4) There will always be some sort of CFS movement charge which is incurred and this is borne either by shipper of consignee based on the agreed Incoterms and Commercial agreements in place by buyer (Panel Plus’ customer) and seller (Panel Plus).
5) Currently we (DHL) do not manage this charge for Panel Plus as we (DHL) are not handling the Panel Plus Ocean Freight.
6) Each and every CFS/ICD will have their own tariff charges which is what is offered to customers. DHL also has some special charges which we have with multiple CFS’ in India. The CFS charges which are offered at port CFS’ are also very different from what is offered at ICD’s (Inland Container Depots).
Do let me know if you have any more questions.
