Neuromuscular Signal Propagation
– When an action potential reaches the motor end plate, 200-300 vesicles
of ACh are released in the synaptic cleft.
– ACh comes in contact with the muscle fiber membrane for 2-3 msec.
– After 2-3 msec, the ACh is neutralized by cholinesterase
– The change is membrane potential due to the ACh is almost always
large enough to generate a single action potential on the muscle cell
membrane.
