of Fe3+ in aqueoussolutionwasdeterminedbynaked-eyedetectionafterdippingthemembraneinto
the samplesolution.InthepresenceofFe3+, thecolorofmembranechangedfromyellowtobrown.The
effects ofsolutionpHandco-existingmetalions(Ag+, Cd2+, Co2+, Cr3+, Cu2+, Fe2+, Hg2+, Mn2+, Ni2+, Pb2+,
Zn2+, Ba2+, Mg2+, Ca2+, Na+, K+ and As5+) wereinvestigated.ItwasfoundthattheFe3+ determination
using 5%w/w(curcumin/zein)fabricatedmembraneinasolutionatpH2showedhighefficiencyvisual
sensing withoutanysignificantinterfering.Itsopticaldetectionlimitwas0.4mg/Lwhichislowerthan
the maximumacceptableconcentrationinpotablewater.Theproposedsensingmethoddemonstrated
good accuracyupontheresultsobtainedbyinductivelycoupledplasmaopticalemissionspectrometry
(ICP-OES).
