KINGSTON, Jamaica -- Taxi and bus operators are calling on government to implement a national public passenger transport policy to guide activities in the sector.
According to the operators, most of the problems facing the sector today are a direct result of the absence of a national policy.
“As a sector, we cannot continue and will not continue to operate without a policy guideline,” the operators said in a release Tuesday, June 24.
Against this background the operators say that they are seeking to establish a framework for a national policy. They have called a meeting set for July 6 when a committee will be named, the release said.
