To improve effectiveness, the robot must relate to the user with
praise and feedback on their actions. Previous research has examined
the positive effects of relational discourse—including
praise and feedback—in an exercise coach robot leading elderly
participants in physical and cognitive exercises [10].
Relational agents have also been found to be effective for delivering
health communication and health behavior change
interventions to older adults, especially those with low functional
health, reading, or computer literacy [2].
