In this next lesson we'll discuss the value of having and using workspaces. A workspace is a one-stop job for a certain activity. Let's take a look at some of the main ways a workspace can help drive productivity in your company. First, it gives you a 360-degree view of the activity. With this view there is no need to navigate to multiple lists. Workspaces also help you answer some specific questions. Some of those questions you might want answered are how much work, if I start this one activity versus another activity? Are there any urgent cases that I need to attend to now? Or maybe how tough would it be to do this work? Is it pretty straightforward, or are there trouble cases? Another value of workspaces is that it provides some great insight. You can compare multiple sources of data. This gives you a big-picture view that is hard to get with just using lists in specific modules. Workspaces also allow you to navigate by data and select what you want to act on. This means less filtering to find a record. And finally workspaces give you direct access to tasks which you can act on within that workspace. So now let's take a look at some examples of workspaces found within AX. This first screenshot here shows the customer invoicing workspace. And this workspace is for a person whose job it is to invoice sales orders or resolve any issues with invoices that may be blocked or can't be processed. This workspace also helps determine how many orders are ready to be invoiced, or are there any invoices on hold. This is useful so the user knows if they need to go and investigate these orders. As you can see over here on the summary tab, you can see specific tiles here that will give you some more information about the status of specific orders. This workspace also makes it easier for users to complete tasks right from the workspace by editing or changing one of the lists. This next workspace is the workforce management workspace, and this workspace is designed for people whose job it is to support employee transitions. One of the questions these types of employees might want answered are, are there any open positions I need to recruit for? So you can see here in the middle pane, under open positions, it's going to list all of the open positions in the system. Another question these types of employees might want answered is, how many recently hired employees are there, or how many work items are assigned to me? You can see these in the left tiles that summarize this information.
