Mesoporous silica was functionalized with pyridine by treating
with TPI in refluxing toluene. The TPI was anchored to the mesoporous
silica surface by condensation of the silanol groups of mesoporous
silica and the ethoxy groups of TPI
The incorporation of
the pyridine moieties on the mesoporous material was confirmed
by FTIR. The characteristic stretching vibration bands of pyridine
and organosilane (1655, 1560, and 2981 cm1, respectively) in
the FT-IR spectra of the grafted material confirmed the presence
of pyridine groups on the surface of the mesoporous silica
