Dein, who is now a Premier League ambassador, said: “I once tried to promote Celtic and Rangers coming to the Premier League.”
But he now believes that it would be impossible to get clubs to support the idea.
“I can’t see it happening because of the fear factor of clubs worrying about them coming to take their place.”
In his 24 year spell as vice-chairman, Dein led Arsenal to unprecedented success, taking responsibility appointing Arsene Wenger as manager and the club’s move to the Emirates Stadium.
