Tambon Mae Pan is laced with the legend of a wild tiger-striped elephant which came out eating rice and some of the farm crops of the villagers who immigrated from Mueang Lablae, Uttaradit. The first family which was living in settlements in Mae Pan were Pho Ard and Mae Tiaminjinda, working on their corn fields to the east of the Yom River. The village is now called Tambon Mae Pan.
