Rice is one of the model organisms in poaceae plants that can
be used to study the molecular mechanisms of cell wall biosynthesis
[1]. Mechanical strength is an important agronomic trait which
mainly affects crop lodging thus its yield. Plant mechanical strength
is mainly controlled by the cell wall. Changes in either structure or
composition of the cell wall will affect mechanical strength. Cell
wall is a fiber system composed mainly of cellulose molecules, a
polymer of -1,4-glucan [2]. In primary wall the content of cellulose
is usually 20–30%, while in secondary wall it can reach 40–90%
