Neither gender is particularly wise today. I think the development of wisdom through introspection is highly discouraged by various cultural norms. Introspection is dangerous to the status quo. It is not only painful to think deeply about oneself but non-productive for the economic system so it seems to most people to be a knowledge not worthy of pursuit. Only the abjectly miserable tend to seek wisdom (although most turn to alcohol or other distractions instead). Wisdom is a dying breed in Western cultures were hedonism and production/consumption cycles seem to be all that really matters. Even loving relationships without "great sex" are hard to imagine today. This is how hedonistic our culture is.
