n conclusion, we have demonstrated that that the association ofAF with CHD is dependent on D-dimer levels, a marker of hemo-stasis. Potentially, anticoagulation strategies in AF have implica-tions beyond stroke prevention to decrease CHD risk. Future studiesare needed to clarify the role of D-dimer in CHD prediction amongthose with AF and to determine which anticoagulation therapiesare able to reduce the CHD burden in this population.
