The researcher inquired about the willingness of this company to participate in the study by first sending an explanatory letter about the research project and then visiting the employee health management department director of the company to explain the purpose of the research. After receiving consent from the employee health management department, occupational and environmental health nurses helped distribute and collect the employed mothers' self-reported questionnaires. The questionnaire was distributed to 981 female employees who had recently taken maternity leave between January 2009 and January 2011, as recorded by the human resources department. Female workers who met the inclusion criteria (maternity leave between January 2009 and January 2011) could choose to participate in the survey. In total, 715 valid questionnaires were collected, giving a response rate of 72.9%. The study was approved by the Institutional Review Board of I-Shou University, Kaohsiung, Taiwan.
